C.C. began working in clay in the late 60's in New York City. C.C. took her first classes at the Brooklyn Museum and at the craft program at Riverside Church . She also spent a summer at the Great Barrington Pottery in Massachusetts learning Japanese throwing techniques. It was there thet she learned to take control of the clay and not let it control her.

On moving to Eastern Long Island in the early 70's she was dismayed to find no place to continue clay work. Her husband's response was to buy a wheel and set it up at the farmhouse they had purchased in Riverhead. The homestead came complete with a brussel sprout crating house--perfect for a pottery. And so began her adventure making, glazing and firing her own work. Previously, instructors had been responsible for glaze formulation and firing.

After learning how to fire a small, commercial gas kiln, C.C. outgrew its small size and built a 36-cubic-foot gas kiln, which is still in operation today. In 1973 she opened her business as C.C.'s Pottery, and eventually expanded beyond the small brussel sprout house to the larger potato barn behind the house.

C.C.'s work today consists of high fired tableware, vases, and pieces for the garden. Look to the images for examples. All of the ware is dishwasher and microwave safe. Garden pieces, although durable, must be brought inside in the winter.
